A 3D system of editing triangular meshes that can clean, heal, render images like X3D, OBJ, STL, PTX and other formats.

MeshLab is a free and open source 3D editor app developed by Paolo Cignoni for Windows. It's pretty reliable.

The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below. We've also created some screenshots of MeshLab to illustrate the user interface and show the overall usage and features of this 3D editing program.

MeshLab is an open-source 3D mesh processing software application that allows users to edit, clean, and convert 3D meshes.

The tool can be used for 3D printing or digital sculpting, as it features a powerful set of tools for mesh editing, cleaning, and texturing. The clean user interface makes it easy to use, allowing users to quickly get up and running with their 3D mesh editing projects. It includes a number of different tools for mesh selection, mesh optimization, mesh conversion, mesh filtering, mesh texturing, and mesh animation.

MeshLab is aimed to help the processing of the typical not-so-small unstructured models arising in 3D scanning, providing a set of tools for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering and converting this kind of meshes.

This project is actively supported by the 3D-CoForm project.

Compatibility and License

MeshLab is a free application released under the GPLv3 license on Windows from 3D design. With software released under the open source GPLv3 license, anybody can download, install, run and distribute the software with little in terms of restrictions. The latest version we have is 2023.12 and is available to download here.

What version of Windows can MeshLab run on?

MeshLab can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It's only available as a 64-bit download.
